About Faith Montgomery

I am a graduate of Mercer University, where I majored in journalism and political science. I have experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Premiere, Audition, Lightroom and Photoshop. I have also dabbled in After Effects.

During my time at Mercer, I was a part of the school newspaper, The Cluster, as a contributing writer and photographer.  I also worked with the Macon Telegraph as a writer and Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB), where I created 1:40 news features from production through editing.

I worked as a print marketer for QuadWorks, a student programming board on campus during my sophomore year (2020).  As a junior (2021), I became the marketing director, overseeing a team of print marketers, a guerilla marketer and a social media marketer.  I created marketing schedules for each semester's events, placed printing orders, ordered merchandise, maintained a budget and created some designs of my own. Due to university funding, I also learned how to use a P-Card.

Between my sophomore and junior years, I worked with the Coastal Plain League (CPL), a collegiate summer baseball league, as a multimedia intern. During the internship, I covered Macon Bacon games as a photographer and videographer, and I posted to the league's Instagram stories throughout each game.

I returned to the CPL once again during the 2022 season where I worked as a photography and videography intern for the Macon Bacon. Through this internship, I learned details about the franchise and how to market to pre-existing fans.

One of my favorite college experiences was

when I got the opportunity to travel to the 2020 Iowa caucus with one of my classes. In Iowa, I met presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg and entered a rally as press for Joe Biden.

I currently work for a local newspaper as a copy editor and page designer. I also produce and edit podcasts for the company.

Videography is my favorite storytelling medium because it allows so much freedom.  I have experience producing, filming and editing two-camera interviews. I edit my footage on Adobe Premiere Pro which is my favorite part of the process. My interview of the Macon-Bibb Transit Authority's Public Information Officer was published on the Macon Newsroom's website.

My love for writing is what spurred my interest in journalism and led me to join the school newspaper during my freshman year of high school and later became Editor-in-Chief. I have been published in the Macon Telegraph, Gwinnett Citizen and The Cluster.  I have experience writing in AP style and filing open records requests.

Most of the pictures I take are of people, either portraits or student events like sports games or theater productions. I love to capture the action of events, and I look at creating pretty aesthetics for portrait shots. I primarily shoot with a Nikon D3400 and then do any necessary color correcting on Lightroom or PhotoShop. One of my women's soccer pictures printed in The Cluster was nominated for a 2021 Georgia College Press Award.

Audio is a medium that I thought I would never enjoy because I didn't think that radio was suitable for an introvert like me.  However, it has become one of my favorite mediums to work with. I love thinking about how to incorporate natural sound into my pieces to complete each story. I also love the audio editing process because I enjoy creating the perfect crossfades and layering sounds in Audition.
